Please take the time to read through the information below about our fees, appointments and doctor visits out of hours or off-site.

Cheltenham Medical Centre is a mixed billing clinic

Fees are charged for your consultation but may vary depending on a number of factors. These may include the timing, length of consultation, and the complexity of medical issues. 

The following fees are representative;

Bulk billing is available for the following;

Home visits and after hour visits are available and are all privately billed

  • Children 15 years and under
  • Commonwealth Government Pension Card Holders
  • DVA Card Holders
  • Care Plans (GP Management Plans, 45-49 Care Assessments) 
  • Reduced Fee for Health Care Card

Please note that all after hours consultations will be privately billed.

Theatre Fee

A Theatre Fee will be charged for all procedures. The charge will vary according to the complexity of the procedure. This fee is additional to any fees for medical dressings or medical supplies used.

Payment is required on the day and can be made via cash, Mastercard, Visa or EFTPOS. We also provide online Medicare claiming. A $5 accounting fee will apply for non-payment on the day of consultation.

Monday to Friday

Children 12 years and under will be bulk billed. Saturday & Sunday private billing only.

Patients holding a Commonwealth Government Pension Card (Blue Card) or a Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card will be bulk billed.

Patients holding a Commonwealth Government Health Care Card (Green and Yellow Card) will be privately billed at a reduced fee.

Patients holding a Commonwealth Government Seniors Health Card (Pink Card) will be privately billed at a reduced fee.

All other patients will be privately billed.

Saturday, Sunday Morning and Public Holidays Private Billing Only

Every effort is made to adhere to appointment times, however emergency cases do occur. We recommend you attend one particular doctor regularly, however as we practise as a team, continuity of care will be maintained by seeing any of the doctors if your doctor is unavailable. If you have a number of problems, require a full check-up, pap test or procedure, please inform the receptionist who will make a longer appointment.

We encourage our patients to see the doctor of their choice and to assist this, all doctors are given regular hours to work so their patients will be aware of when their doctor is working.

After Hours Medical Care

One of our doctors is available for urgent, after-hours telephone consultation on 03 9584 3055.

Our doctors will discuss your problem with you over the phone and develop a plan to manage your condition. This might involve a clinic consultation the next day, a home visit, a transfer to hospital or some other treatment.

Visits to Private Homes, Institutions and Hospitals

These visits are privately billed with $95 for a visit in standard hours and $180 for an out of hours standard visit.

We encourage patients requiring a doctors visit to phone as early as possible in the day to notify us as visits are usually made between 1pm and 2pm.
